Canola trials conducted during the 2024 season.

Single knife vs Dual Knife vs TriMax - Compare a PLX with PLDS opener, with different nitrogen placement and seeding rates.

PLDS Opener - To determine if seed safety can be achieved by moving the seed knife away from the fertilizer band to the side, or having the fertilizer band go deeper relative to the seed depth.

Seed Rate Trial - To compare three different seeding rates of canola with the same fertility.

Opener Tip Size and Phosphorus Placement - To compare our common ¾” single knife tip size to a 2” tip at varying rates of seed placed starter fertilizer.

Nitrogen Source and Placement Trial - Identify differences in canola when different sources and placements of nitrogen are used.

Designing Equipment Around Agronomy

Bourgault operates a 2500 acre research farm in St. Brieux Saskatchewan. Every year Bourgault conducts field trials which help understand the impact of the design of the equipment on crop development, as well as to provide customers and agronomists with recommendations on how to best utilize the Bourgault lineup of equipment.
